Founder and Executive Chairman

Steven Burgess is founding principal and current Executive Chairman for The Burgess Group (TBG), an international firm specializing in wealth creation and wealth transfer strategies. TBG works with family offices, law firms, accounting firms, private banks and financial advisors globally to provide planning for the ultra high net worth. TBG has offices and affiliates in United States, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Emirates.

Mr. Burgess is a pioneer in the development of traditional premium finance. He started TBG in 1999 with the focus on creating a platform to provide an unparalleled efficiency for estate, succession, corporate and charitable planning initiatives. Over the ensuing years, Mr. Burgess worked with over a dozen of the largest banks in the world helping them develop cost-effective credit chassis for traditional premium financing. Concurrently, he consulted with many of the largest insurance carriers helping them develop product compatible for this type of transaction.

Prior to starting TBG Mr. Burgess was senior partner with Stanworth-Burgess & Associates from 1976 to 1998. There, he specialized in comprehensive estate and corporate planning analysis creating supplemental non-qualified retirement strategies for key executives and estate planning solutions for owners. In addition Mr. Burgess provided various investment banking and M&A services assisting with early-stage and mezzanine funding for small and mid-size companies looking to expand or restructure.

Mr. Burgess attended the University of Utah-David Eccles School of Business and received his degree in Business Finance. He has received numerous national industry awards for production and excellence. He is a long-standing honor roll Lifetime member of MDRT, Court of The Table, Top of The Table (master status), Forum 400, AALU and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He and his company have been recognized by several industry and financial magazines such as Best Practices, Forbes and Top of The Table. Steve was published in the Chinese financial journal, Caixin, and was selected as a speaker for the 2015 Top of the Table Annual Meeting.

Mr. Burgess is active in his community, sitting on several charitable organization boards and volunteering for many fund-raising activities. In 2021 he was awarded The Preston Hotchkis Distinguished Achievement Award for his dedication to the community and overall achievement. In addition, the TBG platform raises hundreds of millions of dollars every year for universities, hospitals/clinics, churches and a variety of other registered charitable organizations. The Burgess Group was recently recognized by Cleveland Clinic's, Allied Partners in Philanthropy, for facilitating charitable contributions. Mr. Burgess and his wife Elizabeth reside part-time in the foothills of Salt Lake City and the balance of the year in their home in Cabo San Lucas. They have four children all of whom are active in TBG. Mr. Burgess is an avid art collector; his residential art collection won the Best in The West award a few years ago. He is an active sports enthusiast enjoying tennis, hiking, skiing, and both road and mountain biking. He is well traveled and has explored all seven continents.
