Steven Burgess is internationally recognized as one of the leading innovators in traditional premium finance and advanced wealth transfer planning. As Founder and Executive Chairman of The Burgess Group (TBG), he has spent more than four decades advising ultra-high-net-worth families, family offices, law firms, accounting firms, private banks, and financial advisors on sophisticated estate, succession, corporate, and charitable planning strategies. TBG serves clients through offices and strategic affiliates across the United States and Mexico.

A pioneer in traditional premium finance, Mr. Burgess founded TBG in 1999 to create an integrated platform that delivers innovative and highly efficient wealth planning solutions. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with many of the world’s leading financial institutions to develop premium finance credit structures and has consulted with major life insurance carriers on the design of products tailored for complex planning strategies.

Mr. Burgess earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. He is a Lifetime Honor Roll member of MDRT, Court of the Table, and Top of the Table (Master Status), and a member of Forum 400, the American Council of Life Insurers, and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). His work has been featured in Forbes, Best Practices, and Caixin, and he was selected as a featured speaker at the 2015 Top of the Table Annual Meeting.

Philanthropy has long been central to Mr. Burgess’s work. Through TBG’s planning platform, more than $2 billion in charitable endowments has been facilitated for universities, hospitals and clinics, churches, and other qualified charitable organizations. He serves on several charitable boards, actively supports fundraising initiatives, and received the Preston Hotchkis Distinguished Achievement Award in 2021 for his professional accomplishments, community leadership, and philanthropic service. The Burgess Group has also been recognized by the Cleveland Clinic’s Allied Partners in Philanthropy for facilitating transformational charitable giving.

Mr. Burgess and his wife, Elizabeth, divide their time between Salt Lake City, Utah, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They have four children, all of whom are actively involved in The Burgess Group. An avid art collector, outdoorsman, and world traveler, Mr. Burgess has visited all seven continents and enjoys golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, and both road and mountain cycling.
