Vice President

After considering and dropping careers in medicine and journalism, Liz completed her law degree in 1986. She is a self-described "recovering litigator;" she spent the first decade of practice in state court defending medical malpractice claims and the second as assistant attorney general for the State of Utah defending constitutional law claims in federal court.

Liz has been with The Burgess Group as VP & General Counsel since 2003. She works with the top attorneys in the world in tax law, international law, cross-border insurance and estate planning to develop wealth preservation and transfer strategies for high net worth individuals and families. Liz is a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

In her spare time, Liz volunteers as court-appointed pro bono Private Guardian ad Litem for children involved in contested divorces and she is active in the Utah State Bar. She loves family, travel, reading, running, skiing, tennis and hiking.
